The service supports feasibility studies, design, and PoC of applications that combine AI, Cyber-Physical Systems (such as AGVs, AMRs, and autonomous drones for indoor applications), primarily to enable innovative Industry 4.0 scenarios.
The laboratory offers real, virtual, and simulated environments for solution validation. The focus is on distributed intelligence solutions following the IoT-edge-cloud continuum approach, cooperative approaches and swarm intelligence to optimize complex systems, and the study of localization technologies.
The laboratory consists of a flight cage, a quadruped robot, a rover, 4 turtlebots, 4 drones, a localization infrastructure with 6 VICON cameras, a UWB localization infrastructure, and RFID systems.
The facility can be used both for developing localization and navigation solutions and for testing existing technologies with a view to possible adoption and/or benchmarking against state-of-the-art technologies.
